It was there to give aid/loans to developing countries. The deal was sweet - bigger money than I was on, wouldn't have to pay tax as all employees were treated as expats, plush office, impressive extras, good prospects... I said no. At the time, it was half because I was petrified. I had no economic background or knowledge (or much interest), and just didn't think I'd understand what was being talked about, and would be found out. But it was half because I just couldn't buy into the whole capitalist mentality of "this is what we in the west do, and now you must all do it too, if you want our help". I just sniffed a rat. <br /><br />I'm always glad I turned down that job offer... I wouldn't have survived (either I really wouldn't have understood what people were talking about and they would have rumbled me, or the rat smell would have got too powerful).<br /><br />Democracy only works if it's the people/institutions who are elected who are making the decisions. <br /><br />Thanks for posting this.Iota https://www.blogger.com/profile/08507184283437057648noreply@blogger.com
