Help Burma

I made a little donation today in aid of Avaaz's campaign to help the Burmese keep lines of communication open with the outside world. With the blackout imposed by the ruling Junta, the world has not been receiving information on the crisis, and is starting to lose interest.

Funds are urgently needed to provide Burma's civil society groups with equipment so they can start broadcasting again and informing the world what is going on in the country. They also need funds to support humanitarian actions for the most needy. If you would also like to contribute you can click here. So far around $168,000 has been collected in just a few days. Avaaz aims to collect $300,000, so do please help if you can. Even 20€, as one of many, can go a long way.

Don't let us leave the Burmese to their fate. Help Avaaz to keep the lines of communication open so that the Junta will be pressured into making reforms. You'll be in good company. There are 1.5million members of Avaaz in countries all over the world.

If you can't contribute money, please add your name to the petition which now has over 780,000 names calling upon China and the UN Security Council to put pressure on the Burmese military rulers. The aim is to reach 1million signatures ASAP.

Go on, just Do It.
